Tall Ship, Back Flip, Cool Dip

The tall ship was back on Bellingham Bay! I love watching that old schooner sailing over the waves – the wind filling her sails. (I had the opportunity to sail aboard The Adventuress a year ago – you’ll find a post about my adventure at bellinghambayblog.com/2013/10/05/a-sail-on-a-tall-ship/.) AND the way cool folks of Bellingham were getting themselves married, throwing themselves into the bay, and salsa-dancing on Fairhaven Green.  Does life get any better than this? 🙂

Deer Around the Corner and Otters in the Bay

I witnessed magic in Bellingham this morning! A family of otters – four babies and their mom – were there, scampering around on the rocks, and swimming in the bay. I watched as the otter-mom swam off in search of food and brought back a salmon for her pups and I watched as the little ones raced to her for their lunch.  A heron was there, too – posing for me at the water’s edge. A couple of Coast Guard boats were practicing training maneuvers. And as I was finishing my walk a deer nonchalantly walked across a private drive to nibble on the bushes and trees next to it…

A Blur of Forest-Glaciers-Saltwater-Boardwalk Awesomeness

I looked forward to this week for months – and once it got here it zipped by like a commuter train in Japan – a blur of laughter, recipe-exchanges,  book shares, camera-snapping, forest-glaciers-saltwater-market-boardwalk awesomeness. The husband’s three sisters and mom arrived on Sunday from the east coast and by Thursday night we’d dropped them off at their hotel by the airport and they were gone. And now I’m sitting here in a house that seems just a little too quiet and empty. It is weird.

So I think what I’ll do while I shift and find my balance in this quiet house is process the week in pictures – our trip to LaConner and Deception Pass, our walk through Bellingham’s Fairhaven district, our day on the slopes of Mount Baker, our afternoon in Seattle…

Hike to Anderson Point

It was the perfect day for a walk in a cool and shady forest…

Puppies, Boats, and Unexpected Faces

Ohmygosh – does life get any cuter than the pups I met at Boulevard Park yesterday?

Had some fun playing with boat reflections.

And I had no idea I’d captured smiling faces reflected in the puddle until I downloaded my pictures just now… that was kind of cool. I love it when stuff like that happens…
