The color is fading, and the leaves have fallen, but there’s a kind of simple, unadorned beauty about this time of year, isn’t there?
Frost sparkling on the ramp, clear blue skies, and The Battle of the Birds in Bellingham today…
Perhaps I should say a bit more about the bird battle…? As I was walking back to Fairhaven I spotted a crow and small seagull happily chowing down on a what appeared to be a little puddle of upchuck. Although this is not a meal I would choose for myself, who am I to judge the meal choices of birds, right? Soon a larger seagull flew into the bird buffet, chased the smaller birds away, and took over the buffet. This did not sit right with me. I do not like bullies. So I walked towards the puddle of lunch and chased the larger seagull away – and the crow and smaller seagull returned to their meal. I do not think the big seagull was so happy with me, but the smaller birds seemed to like me just fine. 🙂

It was a grey, mellow, drippy day on Bellingham Bay – and it was lovely. 🙂
Lake Padden in Bellingham, Washington, was misty and magical today…
